Tanzen 丹前

Ryokan Tanzen Primary Purpose is Warmth & Relaxation. It is a practical utility garment worn over a yukata while staying at an inn. The armpits are completely closed. It is built for simplicity and retaining heat. Waist-length. A shorter cut that allows for easy movement around the ryokan. The collar is usually worn straight or slightly tucked inward.

Women’s Haori is Formal/Stylish Outerwear. It protects the kimono from dust and adds a layer of elegance to the overall outfit. Sleeve Construction Features open slits called Miyatsuguchi (at the ribs) and Furi (behind the sleeve) to accommodate the obi. Length Knee-length is modern. A “Nagahaori” (long haori) creates a sophisticated, vertical silhouette. The collar is folded outward, which beautifully frames the neck and shows the inner kimono.

For the Gentleman (Left): You are rocking the classic “Hot Spring Resort” look. Because the tanzen is short, giving off a relaxed yet “in-the-know” vibe
